Full Restoration of this Beautiful Blue 1968 Beetle

This beautiful beetle was commissioned for a great customer of ours. This was his father’s beetle that was purchased new in 1968. His father taught him how to drive in this very car and he drove it all through his high school years. After he had his fun with her unfortunately like some old things they get put aside for a good amount of time. Thankfully he trusted in us here at Doug’s Bugg’s N Bunny’s to bring her back to life. It was quite the massive undertaking but we were not afraid of the challenge and got to work dressing her with a new look.

Doug’s touched every part of this car all the way down to the hardware. It has a new Sewfine interior, new Empi Trigger Shifter, all new Retrosound head unit surrounded by 4 Rockford Fosgate Punch P1 6.5 2 way speakers teamed up with a powered 8″ Subwoofer in the rear which sounds great. We upgraded the single port 1600 to a brand new EMPI 1600cc Dual Port Kit and upgraded it to 87mm pistons and built him a fresh 1641cc motor with ALL new components, also teamed up with a fresh rebuilt transmission put together here in house. Then we added a Gilmore Enterprises under dash AC unit which keeps this thing cool in the heat of the summer here in AZ. Finally we did a full suspension and upgraded disc brake restoration with the finishing touch being the Empi Porsche Alloy 4.5″ wheels all the way around and couldn’t be happier with the way it all turned out.

Ultimately when we approach a restoration here at Doug’s safety is always our #1 priority. We install a Blazecut fire suppression system on every vehicle we restore here. We don’t skip over anything that should be fixed along the way and make sure to replace every hose and restore the entire fuel system. Our customer is going to hand this car off to his grandson which is driving this car to high school. It is holding precious cargo everyday it is on the road! I wish I could have driven this car to high school! I did ask if our customer was taking applications for any new adoptions and sadly was declined but we sure did have a ton of fun putting this one together. What do you think?
